CORAL COMPANY (Lakewood City Center plaza)
Met with property manager and CIty Public Works Manager, to discuss Sinagra Park maintenance and confirm "who is responsible for what" in the Marc's Plaza area. Ms Esser expressed intentions to decorate for holidays, and potential interest in hanging flower baskets in the plaza in 2008.
FLOWER BASKETS
We've requested that the City remove the baskets. At some point after the Art Festival the baskets were not watered and most of the plants died. Promotion committee met 8/29 to discuss plans for 2008. Tentatively we are planning for 10 to 12 baskets hung at a lower height in a limited area.
BANNERS
At the city's request, we have submitted a design for a Main Street banner. We are awaiting a status report from the sign shop as to when/where/how they might be hung.
LAKEWOOD CENTER/BAILEY BUILDING
Meetings with First New Jersey owner took place on 9/5 to review rehabilitation potential, restoration-related tax credits and finance options for the former Bailey Department Store building.
OHIO ARTS COUNCIL FUNDING
Funds are available from Ohio Arts Council through 'Art Access" program to bring the arts to the public. This could be an excellent means of bringing entertainment and cultural events to the Main Street district in 2008. Requesting Mandel Center/CWRU intern to assist with research.
Main Street Lakewood is a program of Lakewood Commuinity Progress Inc (LCPI) and relies largely on volunteer efforts to revitalize Lakewood's historic downtown district. Please contact Mary Anne Crampton if you would like to get involved in transforming our downtown commercial district.
