Four new bike hitches will soon be installed in the Main Street district over top of old parking meter posts. Two hitches will be placed in front of Phoenix Coffee, one near Rep. Kucinich's office and one near the Winking Lizard.
This approach is a cost effective means to use existing structures to encourage bicyclists to stop in our downtown district. This is a pilot program. LakewoodAlive members are encouraged to try them out and let us know what you think. Many thanks to LakewoodAlive member Tim Liston for advocating on this project.
The new Detroit Avenue striping plan is in effect. This attempt to rebalance the street with a consistent "cartpath" throughout the city is the result of the public effort put into the Main Street Lakewood Detroit Streetscape Study. Many thanks to all those who participated. The Streetscape process will be posted on the LakewoodAlive website under Development :Issues & Reports.
